Naming Ceremonies

A naming ceremony is a wonderful and meaningful way to welcome a child into the family, whether they be newborn, older or adopted.

There is no age limit, the child can be as young or as old as you like, and, you can include all children from the family in the one ceremony.

You can choose the style:

The venue, whether it be at home, in the garden, or any place that’s special to you.

Whether there is to be religious content or not.

Whether we use humour or not.

Any symbolic gestures or rituals that may appeal to you.

And I’ll help you write promises and vows that are personal and right for you and your family.

I will meet you in advance to discuss your ideas, ensure that your ceremony is a special event, and will tailor it to suit your child’s age and your family situation.

You have the option of including music, hymns, vows, poems and readings in the ceremony to personalise the celebration of your child.

You might want to appoint Supporting or Guide Parents and have them, Grandparents and friends participate in the ceremony.

The celebration is yours, to honour the greatest gift of all.
